"Sage" 2007, in the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Holloran, Laramie Wyoming "{Sage's Mom} loved her painting, she cannot stop telling people about it, and has rearranged the entire house around it. She has already mentioned that she wants one for Willow, so we will be coming to you in a few years for another picture. Thank you again." | Consultation
Prices include consultations. |
for insight into a person's
character and personality it's good to meet with the sitter if possible.
Whenever possible, I like to control the image by photographing
the subject myself, using a 35mm digital camera to assure quality images
and a number of poses. You may visit me or I can see you. I will travel
if necessary, given short notice, but cost is governed by distance.
|
||||
Photographs Digital Images |
If I use your photos, I
insist on good quality images, showing with absolute clarity of the
features of the face. I would like to have as many as possible to help
me capture the personality- and barring any problems, all will be
returned.
Excellent portraits can be
created from digital images; however, they must be high resolution
(.tiff or. jpg format) supplied on a CD. I also need a printed
photograph (either a pre-printed digital image or a 'normal' photograph)
showing the pose you want. Again, the more I have for reference the
better the portrait.
|
||||
Sizes |
Oil paintings tend to be larger. A head study around
14"x18" or so, and a full body portrait 20"x30".
For a graphite, conté
crayon, or charcoal, the size will be around 12"x14"; a
full-body (non-action) study 16"x20"+.
These sizes are just
guidelines as all commissioned portraits should be governed by pose and
your personal requirements.
|
||||
Animals |
Animals such as horses,
dogs, cats, birds, and cattle. There's an additional charge for two or
more subjects within the same portrait; the price may be higher with
elaborate collars, saddles and tack; to include a rider [with good
images] will also cost more.
|
||||
| Composition Additions |
I'll do my best to include
you in the process, asking your opinions as you view the portrait before
it is completed. At that time alterations may be made. Of course, the
finished piece is subject to your approval - if not completely satisfied
I will refund your money, but I will keep the artwork.
|
||||
Backgrounds |
Whenever possible,
I'll get your input as to the background content. Backgrounds are an
aspect of the composition and design. Generally, graphite and charcoal
studies have no backgrounds.
|
||||
Timescales |
I'll present you a
timescale, but completing a painting depends on the complexity of the
piece and my current work schedule. I cannot guarantee a timely
project. Order early for Christmas or gifts.
